Weekly Roundup: Polarisation & UK Riots, Two US Running Mate Partnership Reads & Gossip Over Man's Sex Scandal
Week ending 10th/11th August 2024
As you can see, I decided to leave this week’s roundup til Sunday as a very busy day for me yesterday. So! This week’s decks for the readings have been the Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards, the Gilded Reverie Lenormand, the Rana George Lenormand, Sibilla della Zingara (Gypsy Oracle Cards), Fin de Siecle Kipper and the Sibilla Indovina.
Do take a look at the archive index, where you can see all oracle card resource/how-to posts so far on these decks (and yes, there will still be more of these posts coming soon, fear not!):
Spreads this week have included the Star Spread (twice), a Short Partnership Layout (also twice!) and the Gossip Spread. You can remind yourself how to lay and read these three for yourself here:
This Week’s Readings
More of a philosophical feel at the start of the week, with what appeared to be a warning or suggestion in such polarised times, over whether we choose to jump into the fray of battles, conflicts, and tribes or to step back for a bit. This comes in the wake of the riots spilling out onto the UK streets this summer (much egged on by certain public figures and disinformation) plus the now-familiar battles all over the world, including the usual on social media where everything is escalated. Meanwhile, we did short partnership reads on both US Presidential candidates and their respective running mates, plus there seems to be gossip of (yet another?) sex scandal in the offing which came up in Friday’s gossip reading, although I’m not sure to which particular “gentleman” that one refers - sadly, there have been several already of late (there’s Russell Brand, there’s newsreader Huw “Eww” Edwards, and there’s big and very nasty stuff that’s been building about A Certain Male Fantasy Author too - and that’s just the Brits). What that reading also highlights are current issues around general institutional cover-ups and ‘establishment’ whitewashing, so perhaps I’ll look at that concern a little more closely in the week upcoming.
As ever, you can click on the post title to look at the original reading. Here are the summaries:
This Week: A Choice - To Succumb To Polarisation With Even Worse Results Or Step Back
This week appears to be about choosing or not to get dragged into dramas and issues of polarisation; a choice to throw oneself into the fray with gusto (and bad results), or stepping back for a more peaceful life. Those who overindulge in earthly pleasures and greed will be made sick or made to pay for it, with material losses and unsuccessful losses. There is a warning here that any temptation to take vengeance for slights or offences will lead to much greater harms and should be avoided. Instead, it seems that true freedom can only be achieved by “cutting the Gordian knot”- in other words slicing through and removing a knotty problem quickly, letting it loose, rather than getting all tangled up in it.In this case, this appears to be a quarrel or dispute (or polarisation)that we all risk getting dragged into.
There will be an attack, probably a verbal one, by someone, so it is better to be around lots of people who are kind, friendly and agreeable. The cards appear to be giving guidance that it is sometimes better to have a peaceful if uneventful life than one filled with drama.
Overall, this week the cards suggest there’ll be considerable temptations for people to act unwisely. There WILL be consequences, it seems and happiness and results will depend on the decision made, although good will eventually outweigh evil. Be aware that there is a lot of deceit and untruthfulness around and misinformation and it is easy to believe falsehoods and be led to take unwise action as a result. Caution is needed. Ultimately, the path to take is one of love, although whether you get it returned is up to those to whom you offer it.
So a warning here it seems about whether one chooses to overindulge in the pleasures of battle, and a reminder that in febrile circumstances, avenging every slight can bring its own bad consequences and escalations. And, as per this reading, we definitely saw some consequences, certainly, including rioters and inciters, not to mention those who spread misinformation, being given prison sentences for their part in the rioting on the UK’s streets. There’s also a warning here about misinformation, whether accidental, or active disinformation campaigns, and not to believe everything you hear and read, a theme that came up again in the very next spread.
