Weekly Roundup: Destruction, Circularity, Divisions & Tribalism, A Never-Ending Cycle & Misplaced Loyalties
Week ending 14th & 15th October 2023
Well, not the nicest of weeks news-wise, although I seem to be feeling that a lot lately. It continues the theme we’ve touched on before of this seemingly being an era of things crumbling and falling apart, and there have for sure been some deeply unpleasant realities and lurking prejudices coming to the surface this week. These have shocked many, and are likely to be ongoing, so will need to be faced up to and addressed. Not a short-term thing.
Readings-wise, I used a variety of layouts for my news readings this week. You can check out some of those layouts in detail and step by step guidelines to them here:
The Readings
So it was pretty doom and gloom all week, I’m afraid, in terms of news readings, which wasn’t surprising given the events in Gaza last weekend, whatever your perspective. All the readings reflected that, pretty much, although looking at slightly different perspectives.
This Week: Messenger Of Destruction, Religion, Funding. Soft Targets, Lasting Sorrow Celebrated, Fortunes Stolen
A disaster, destruction, around which there is religion and money, and young men loyal to and passionate about a cause acting as “messengers”. Well-funded and messengers of religion around the destruction. Leading up to this is loyalty and adherence to a place or state and false pride, perceived arrogance. False loyalties around a place or area viewed as arrogant or prideful. Ahead is commitment to military action, private consolations. To some, a consoling or rewarding commitment, with many battles in the private sphere. Many targeted as enemies were ‘soft’ targets; women, families, and young people dancing. The love of wives and families; kind-hearted friend’s joyfulness and celebration. Sadly, ahead we’ll see more sorrow being celebrated, futures and fortune stolen and lost. Celebrations by those who have taken the opportunity to cause lasting grief and loss.
This used the classic Cross layout from the Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards, which gives a sort of overview of situations, looking at current situations, recent past, near future, likely obstacles and advice or likely outcomes. An awful lot of the cards’ predictions appeared to be about tribalism and fanaticism, fierce loyalties, and the kind of open celebrations of atrocities against soft targets that we saw in the streets of major western cities this week, sentiments which have shocked many. It’s caused private conflicts too; friends falling out over approaches and priorities, what people see and don’t see, and of course, military action on both sides. it’s unlikely that this will be coming to an end any time soon, but it’s been pretty ugly to witness.
