Weekly Roundup: A Deal, Performative Healing, A Past Royal Partnership, Malady In Thinking
As we come to the end of yet another week, with some (small) glimmers of hope appearing in the news, let’s take a look at the readings and layouts I used this week, and how accurate (or not) they were.
Some of the layouts used were as follows:
Poll Results:
Perhaps surprisingly, it was the non-Royals who won out in this week’s poll to decide whose partnership I should look at next.
So UK political opponents current Conservative PM Rishi Sunak versus Opposition Labour leader Keir Starmer it is for next week.
I will be running other polls, though, to decide who will be next after them. Ideally, I’m looking for a mix of celebs, politicians and some royals, as well as a few historical figures also, to mix it up a bit.
Meanwhile, here were the readings for this week. Just to note that, aside from the partnership read, all the rest of the readings I did stemmed from this initial one, and explored some of the current issues it was raising.
Coming Up This Week: A Display Of Healing Influencing Thought, & A Deal Or Written Agreement
This week is likely to see some sort of display or performance of thoughts about healing, making things better, but it may come across as “performative caring”. How people think will be at the heart of this, and the issue of “thought” and belief in general. There has recently been news of a loyalty or faithfulness to healing or making things better, but also an ending with regard to scholarship, analysis or intelligence, perhaps hearts over heads concerning what has been written about by professional thinkers and journalists around loyalty, deaths and what needs to be healed.
The current situation, the centre row suggests, involves mourning and grieving over the loss of helpful and supportive thoughts on behalf of those in authority over what has been stolen. There’s grief over that concerning the helpfulness of those in authority, whether they are “serving” or not with regard to people’s thoughts and what’s on their minds.
The cards suggest we’ll be seeing crowd and group behaviour again this week, with people perhaps not getting what was hoped for or anticipated involving a proud or performative journey, a display of progress towards an agreement or deal. There could be a collective allegiance or commitment around progress that cannot be predicted and making a show of it at the heart of that. So it may turn out to be more about what people say they’re doing, rather than what may actually be happening.
We could also see some kind of written deal or news of it and a move or journey towards loyalty and faithfulness . A display of “healing” while failing to anticipate endings or deaths. Crowds and groups of scholars are in the picture and perhaps a degree of group-think. There is mourning over what has been lost in the service of those in authority around thought and consideration.
Thought and people’s thinking and beliefs were at the heart of this reading, and I also explored the issue later in the week, as well as it coming up by itself naturally in one of the readings.
Certainly what people think and believe and what are being seen to think and believe or make a show of (Haughtiness) is coming up consistently as a theme in current affairs right now, and the “quality” of thought often being called into question, particularly in academia and journalism (Scholar/Man of Letters). Biases, loyalties and ‘sides” (Fidelity) are frequent topics of consternation and that’s been no less the case in this week’s news. People, crowds, and public demonstrations calling for peace have continued, while the first hostage/prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza and temporary cessation of fighting came into force at the end of the week involving movement and travel, so that’s the deal (Wedding, Journey) involving those kidnapped and “stolen” (Thief) that this layout indicated.
A warning there also though, that nobody knows how this is going to go in practice (Waiting, R). It is a case of wait and see.
