This Week: Families, Reunions, A Male Enemy Corners To Deliver A Message, Discussion Of Bad Business
Week commencing 21st August 2023
A new week already, and for today, I’m beginning the week with a “themed” reading from the popular Italian Vera Sibilla deck. It’s a great deck when you’re looking for the ‘gossip’ side of a reading, rather than deeper more psychological analysis.
You can get some tips on this deck here:
The theme is about Families and family life, since they’re coming up quite a bit right now, and once again the Room (Family or Living Room in Kipper) was the card that showed up at the bottom of the pack once I’d laid out the main spread as an overall influence.
So.
For the week’s reading, I’m using a slightly expanded tableau spread just to give a bit more detail.
The cards fell as follows:
The Cards (in English)
You can check card meanings via the Italian names in the A-Z Card Meanings list as well as the English here.
The cards are:
Room, Reunion, Priest, Consolation, Conversation, Prison, Enemy, Sorrow, Child, Messenger, Joyfulness (R), Friend, Merchant (R)
The Reading
I’m basically using the centre row as the core of the reading, the row above as conscious events, the row below as actions that arise, and then events in the columns from left to right.
So what do we have?
Well, we have someone imprisoned or trapped, and a male enemy who may well have put the person in that position, sorrow and a child. A young prisoner, and sorrow over an enemy. (Prison, Enemy, Sorrow, Child)
A reunion or meeting with a senior or advisory person brings someone the consolation of conversation. A gathering or get-together that will see an advisor or lawmaker making big gains. (Reunion, Priest, Consolation, Conversation).
A messenger saying that ‘the party’s over’ regarding a friend and a business situation that’s gone wrong or is simply bad or grasping business. A business failure, perhaps, or greedy messenger makes a friend stop celebrating. (Messenger, Joyfulness R, Friend, Merchant R)
From left to right in the columns, we have a get together or Reunion involving someone being trapped, imprisoned or cornered (Prison) and delivered a message (Messenger). Then someone official in authority, someone advisory (Priest) comes and rains on the parade. The party pooper is considered a male Enemy. But there are consolations in sorrow for a female friend (Consolation, Sorrow, Friend), perhaps getting the reward of comforting someone in sorrow or grief. Finally, there’s a discussion over a child or younger person and a swindle (Conversation, Child, Merchant R).
Reading the diagonals, we can see the Reunion connects the male enemy and a female friend. The Priest figure, perhaps someone who lays down the law, corners them, causing sorrow over a swindle or bad business. The entrapment removes joy and discussion brings sorrow.
There are consolations for someone, however, over an enemy messenger coming onto the scene. This has to do with a child and the female friend.
Knighting the cards tells us that the Reunion brings Sorrow, yet there is Consolation, reward and hopes fulfilled, for a female Friend over the entrapment or imprisonment. The authority figure acts as this female friend’s messenger regarding a Child. The male enemy talks about bad business. The consolation of a reunion is somehow joyless. The female friend is involved in conversation with the authorities. The child is affected by the authority figure’s closing down of happiness. The male enemy sees perks and rewards as bad business practices.
And overall, this appears to be happening within a family or private setting (Room).
Intriguing! Could this be Charles’s reported family summit about the future of the monarchy?
In summary then:
The cards suggest that within a family or private set up, there’ll be a gathering or reunion involving someone being trapped, imprisoned or cornered and delivered a message. Someone official in authority who comes and rains on the parade, a male enemy. But strangely, there seem to be consolations for a female friend involved in this, who gets the reward of comforting someone in sorrow or grief. Finally, there’s a discussion over a child or younger person and a swindle or bad business practices, perhaps greed.
The gathering itself links a male enemy and a female friend. The authority figure or official, perhaps someone who lays down the law, corners them, causing sorrow over a swindle or bad business. The entrapment brings the gathering down and causes great sadness, but the female friend appears to gain some reward from this man coming on the scene, which is something to do with a child. Is it a set up? Has she been talking to the authorities?
So the reunion brings sorrow, yet there are consolations, rewards, for a female friend over the entrapment or imprisonment. The authority figure acts as this female friend’s messenger regarding a child. The male enemy talks about bad business. The child is impacted by the authority figure and the removal of joy and celebration. The male enemy makes it clear he sees perks and rewards as bad business practices.
