Wednesday: Expert Thought, Sickness, & "Female" Energies Regarding Commercial Trip In Search Of Treasure
Wednesday 21st June 2023
The cards I drew for today appear to be more of a “comment” on the events and situation discussed in yesterday’s reading regarding the as-yet still missing tourist submersible, the Titan, on its voyage down to the wreck of the RMS Titanic.
The deck used here is the Gypsy Oracle Cards (Sibilla della Zingara).
You can find out more about this deck, including detailed card meanings, history, and how-tos, here:
The cards pulled for today’s reading are as follows. They fell with the Scholar card at the centre, and I added an additional card for overall “message” also, which came out as the Malady card. Some of the imagery in this particular deck, I do find somewhat telling, or even spooky, under the circumstances.
The Cards:
Scholar, Servant, Foe, Sweetheart, Thief, Misfortune, Merchant, Gifts, Surprise. Malady.
The Reading
The layout centres on the analysis and expert voices (Scholar) we are now hearing extensively in the news regarding the sub and its plight. The overall message is one of Malady: something unhealthy, both in the immediate situation of the passengers and vessel, as well as perhaps in terms of the hubris and approach to safety of the company involved, the mission itself, and, I have to say, the overall ethics of continuing commercial trips for wealthy tourists down to what is, after all, the mass grave site of 1500 people who died in horrendous circumstances. I really can’t help feeling that the wreck of Titanic should long ago have been left in peace.
We notably have three female cards at the top (Servant/Maid, Foe, Sweetheart), which I am taking in this case to indicate vessels or oceanic forces in some way (bearing in mind that both ships and the sea are always referred to as female), and a Merchant, so something of a commercial nature involving wealth and business connected with “surprise”treasure (note the imagery in the Surprise card here, which feels very very appropriate, not to mention that in the Gifts card. Not entirely dissimilar interior to that of the original Titanic herself).
Around this expert thought, we have a female enemy (Foe) stealing or taking (Theft) and involved in a disaster (Misfortune), over treasure and wealth (Gifts).
At the centre, we have the expert analysis of the theft or loss and a disaster that seems perhaps one that was waiting to happen (Thief, Scholar, Misfortune, Malady). Above, we have our three female energies (vessels or aspects of the ocean? ) the Servant/Maid, for a “lower” or “helping” kind of female energy, the Foe, for a negative female energy, and the Sweetheart, for the positive or more ‘treasured and loved’ aspect.
Underlying the situation, we have a Merchant seeking Surprise treasures (Gifts). This strongly indicates the wealth and occupations of most of the sub’s passengers. One thing to note is that the Surprise card is generally positive, so there seems to still be some hope there. But there is an element of thrill-seeking, or “because we could” here.
The cards suggest the recent loss or “theft” of a business or wealthy individuals connected with a “serving” female character, perhaps a “lower” kind of vessel (Servant, Thief, Merchant). Now, experts are open about the negative aspects it faces, including the ‘treasures’ of the Titanic herself (Foe, Scholar, underlying Gifts).
Ahead, we have what appears to be disaster regarding a Sweetheart, who may be retrieved (Surprise), although the negativity of the disaster hanging over that (Misfortune) suggests that sadly, it may already be too late for her.
Diagonally, the cards show the experts on the surprise retrieval of the “Servant” (Servant, Scholar, Surprise), and regarding the Sweetheart and the business aspects of this (Merchant).
We are still to see what the final outcome will be.
Experts and analysis in the news currently regarding the missing vessel and its plight, and a sense of unease and unhealthiness overall. Three aspects of both the ocean and vessels concerned, as “Servant or Maid”, as Foe, and as Sweetheart, all driven by the wealthy and the commercial seeking of the “surprise” retrieval of treasures. The negative forces of the ocean bringing loss and disaster around treasure and wealth. Expert analysis suggests a disaster waiting to happen. She may be retrieved, but the odds and negativity surrounding this venture suggest that it may be too late for her.
