Thursday: Reconciliation & Sweetness From Wealthy Older Man Sneered At By Enemy & Further Conflicts To Ensue
Thursday April 20th 2023
So for today, we have another 9-card, this time with Sibylle des Salons. You can see how different Sibilla decks are from, say, Lenormands, and that it’s much more about people and everyday events and situations. Nonetheless, the illustrations in this deck (the artist was Jean-Jacques Grandville, 1803-1847) are, I find, particularly evocative.
Just to flag also that the detailed meanings of all 52 cards (including reversals) have now all been uploaded for this deck.
Today’s cards fell as follows. Take a good look at the cards first and think how you might translate them based on the images, and then see if your thoughts tally with today’s interpretation below.

The Reading
So there is a reconcilation or coming together after a time apart or an argument that is at the centre of this reading (Reconcilation). Around it, we have spite and disdain over the sweet message of a wealthy older man (Anger, Sweet Card, Pensioner) and with regard to more potential fighting and conflict for him (Anger, Quarrel, Pensioner).
It is likely that yet more conflict will ensue or is ensuing over the reconciliation and any messages of sweetness (Sweet Card, Reconciliation, Quarrel). There appears to be much genuine love and affection involved, but on the surface, it is spurned or met with spite or a disdainful attitude, perhaps fuelled by romantic passions (Faithfulness, Affection; Anger; Love). And underlying this, the wealthy older man has or is a hidden enemy about whom there is much disgruntlement and complaint (Enemy; Pensioner; Contrariety, Displeasure).
We see that recently there has continued to be faithfulness, a loyal bond and a sweet messages involving an enemy (Faithfulness, Affection; Sweet Card, Enemy), but this has been met with disdain or spite over a reconciliation, with the older wealthy man. or even that they’re reuniting at all (Anger, Reunion, Pensioner). Ahead, we have romantic love and passion, but arguments and conflicts there too, complaints and disgruntlement (Love, Quarrel, Contrariness/Displeasure) so it seems that there’ll be no winners here in the long run.
Diagonally, we have what looks like a genuine attempt at reconciliation but undermined by complaints and moaning about what that means (Faithfulness, Affection; Reunion: Contrariness/Displeasure), and a reunion with a love or lover which involves an enemy figure and is likely to be opposed (Love, Reunion, Enemy).
A reconciliation or coming together, around which is a great deal of disdain in terms of the sweet message of a wealthy older man and the conflict he is likely to be involved in or to generate. Sadly, this, particularly any nice messages that have been given, is likely to involve yet more conflict, and although the affection involved is genuine, is met with spite or someone in love making clear it is beneath them. The older man has an enemy, or is himself seen that way, which involves disgruntlement, irascibility and complaining. The reunion itself will spawn yet more fighting, particularly in a romantic relationship. Any attempts at reconciliation will be undermined by complaints about what that means, and a reunion with The Enemy is likely to be fiercely opposed.
