Monday: RIP Dr. Mosely. Take A Look At The Last Of My Card Readings Last Week
Monday 10th June 2024
Slight change of plan from my usual Week Ahead read as sadly, the body of missing TV doctor Michael Moseley was found yesterday, in a remote mountainous area of the island on which he disappeared, and just 10 meters away from the coast. He was only 67, he’d been a familiar fixture on TV and radio here for years, and I feel dreadful for his family. What a horrible situation.
As I said on Friday, I had done several readings on Thursday and Friday with various decks and I kept getting the repeat message of a “room” and “restriction”. At first, I thought this meant he’d been kidnapped, but I did wonder if it could also represent immobility and perhaps a cave or fissure, so it was fitting that he was indeed apparently found near the mouth of a cave complex (known as “The Abyss” locally), although out on a rocky area by a fence. Interestingly I got the “Soldier” card in a couple of the spreads too, and the Soldier from the Vera Sibilla (see below, right, although both appeared in separate readings) that showed up in the reading I did with that was particularly pertinent as it shows someone determinedly going to ascend a mountain.
It appears Dr. Mosely did just that, got lost or perhaps disorientated or unwell, stumbled down the rocky slope by the opening to the cave network, perhaps passing out, with his body stopped by the fence. I’m guessing he was unable to move from there, and with the heat and everything and no phone… it’s so sad. RIP Michael.
But the most pertinent of my readings, the last of which I did on Friday afternoon after I posted, was as follows. (I appreciate you just have to take my word for it that I did it then and haven’t just come up with this now, but I promise, I have not read anything on this since Friday. The timestamp on my photo of this layout which I took with my phone is 14:19 on 7th June 2024 so last Friday afternoon).
I suppose I just wanted to illustrate to my readers, how just how clear cards can be, especially when you incorporate the visuals, as I did in this case. It’s taken me aback a bit, hence I feel it’s okay to share it now that we have the final outcome.
Anyway.
For this final reading last Friday, I was using the Celtic Lenormand deck and the traditional “Gypsy’s Answer” spread. Note the scenery and how closely the depiction fits what actually happened and the location on the tiny Greek island of Symi, along with was being talked about, for those of you who were following the story.
My question for my reading on Friday afternoon was “Finally, what has happened to Dr. Michael Mosely and where is he?” and this was the result:
The Cards
Snake; Coffin (note the cave); House, Man; Tree, Book, Fish; Sun ; Lilies, Letter, Crossroads/Paths; Mountain, Shedding Snake, Bear
Notes On Imagery
The imagery has proved quite pertinent here, as you’ll know if you were following the story. Dr. Mosely went missing on the tiny Greek island, where he and his wife had just arrived on holiday. The region, which relies on tourism for its economy. is currently experiencing a heatwave and that was a major factor in the disappearance.
The Sun card was the underlying energy, so the card at the bottom of the deck after all the others had been laid. Note the scenery depicted; a bright rocky coastal area or path by the edge of the ocean , an island in sun, bright blue sea, and searing heat that was being reported by the press.
The Coffin card here is depicted as a cave or tomb. It is set in a slightly hilly area and made of rock. The House, especially with the Snakes and the Sun, could indicate “a very hot place in a rocky and coastal area that is the home of snakes.”
There’s no indication so far that Snakes had much to do with what happened directly; however, the reporting consistently talked about the mountain area being dangerous because of the snakes living there. Note, there are two here, both of this deck’s versions, which are the Snake and the Shedding Snake
The Crossroad or Paths card. Again, significant and representative. A choice was made, and the path was taken up towards the mountain, which you can see in the distance in this depiction.
The Mountain card, here, depicted as coastal cliff, the mountain by the sea.
We also have the Man, for Dr. Mosely himself, the Letter, for writing and news, and the Bear with a fish in its mouth. Let’s not forget what he is most famous for; his diet books.
So let’s interpret the cards incorporating this, and especially now we know the final outcome. I’ll interpret using the standard Gypsy’s Answer format.
Find out how to lay and read that here:
Here was Friday’s question again:
“What happened to Dr. Michael Mosely and where is he?”
Starting at the bottom, it tells us there is a Mountain near a coastal area, it is something to do with Snakes, but also, as this is the Shedding Snake, a situation where trouble was being escaped from, or at least an attempt was being made. We then have Bear, a symbol of physical strength, fortitude and power, as well as diet and sustenance. This suggests that the crux of it is that in a mountainous area near the coast, possibly where there are snakes and could be trouble or complications, someone considering themselves strong, resourceful and resilient tried to escape from the trouble or find a way around a problem.
What we have in the past position here is interesting. We have a focus on or issues with health and vitality, represented by the Tree and the Book, so not only sharing knowledge and books about health, but also possible hidden health problem. The Fish are here also, so it represents making money or enterprise concerning this topic, as well as perhaps something to do with actual fish. Perhaps he had eaten something that didn’t agree with him too? There’s also the element that he’d previously gone swimming.
Then we have the cave, the Coffin, the House and the Man. A cave, the final resting place or “home” for a man.
Ahead, we have the older man, age, wisdom or integrity (Lily), something being written (Letter) and the choice on the mountain path (Crossroads/Paths). So that choice made towards the mountains is likely to be what’ written about.
The final outcome is the Snake. A problem, complication, difficulty, betrayal; a winding road, a bad outcome. (And of course, literal snakes around)
The columns speak of death and cave, a secret, mystery or being hidden, and a mountain by the coast (Coffin, Book, Mountain). In the centre, we have both Snakes so the problem, poor outcome but one that he was trying to escape, involving home or a House (also home to snakes) in a very sunny, hot place (Sun).
Then we have the Man, writing or news reports (Letter) about strength and diet (Bear).
Reading around each of the areas from the top, we have the problem or bad outcome (Snake) involving a death and possible caves (Coffin/Tomb), connected with something mysterious or hidden about his health (Tree, Book) which could be marine-related (Fish), in a mountainous or cliff area (Mountain).
At the centre, we have the problem or complication involving a house or home (Snake, House), to do with fish and a hot sunny coastal area and an older person (Fish, Sun, Lilies) and trying to get away from a problem. (It should be noted that first reports said he had told his wife and friends he was feeling slightly unwell having just gone for a swim and thus wanted to go back to the house they were staying and rest).
Finally, we have the Man, his age (Lilies), something written about strength (Bear) and the choice of route (Crossroads/Paths), here depicted as heading towards a mountain.
So there it appears we have have the whole story, I’m afraid.
RIP and condolences to his loved ones.
The cards suggested the overall answer to the question involved a mountain or cliff near a coastal area, that had something to do with snakes, a poor outcome ultimately due to complications, but also, a situation where trouble was being escaped from, or at least an attempt was being made to get around a problem. Physical strength, fortitude and power appeared to be involved, as well as the idea of diet and sustenance. This suggests that the crux of it was in a mountainous area near the coast, possibly where there are snakes and could be trouble or complications, someone considering themselves strong, resourceful and resilient tried to escape from the trouble or find a way around a problem.
In the recent path, it appeared that there were hidden issues with health and vitality, represented as well as sharing knowledge and books about health and writing about diet. So he may well have had a possible hidden health problem. This has something to do with enterprise on this topic, as well as perhaps something to do with actual fish. Perhaps he had eaten something that didn’t agree with him too? Especially given he had just apparently been swimming.
The result was a cave, a death, a final resting place for the man.
We then have the man, his age, wisdom or integrity, something being written, likely involving that choice on the mountain path, the outcome of which, sadly, was complications, difficulty, betrayal; a problem on the road, a bad outcome. (And of course, literal snakes around). The underlying energy was a very hot, sunny coastal place depicted as having very blue skies, a rocky coast, and an island.
So we have the problem or bad outcome involving a death and possible caves, connected with something mysterious or hidden about his health which could be marine-related in a mountainous or cliff area. Then the problem or complication involving a house or home to do with fish and a hot sunny coastal area and an older person trying to get away from a problem.
Finally, we have a man, his age, something written about strength and the choice of route here depicted as one of two, with the final choice being the one that headed towards a mountainous area.
Quite interesting. So, do you have a book or anything that summarizes all these readings? I'd love a paper or e-book with the various readings, plus an index. Which layouts are best for what type of question? Which layouts lend themselves better to readings with which decks? Plus I'd love advice on your way of doing readings on each layout, which is not at all straightforward. I love the blog, but you offer a wealth of information that can be difficult to keep sorted.
