Friday: A Gamble With Thrills To Fill A Void: Rage Of A Female Force At The Journey
Friday 23rd June 2023
Well, a horribly sad day, given what we now know about the fate of the missing Titan, although not, one feels, unexpected, despite the hopefulness of some.
There have been some odd, but not entirely unexpected things showing up in my cards over the incident this week, and today is no exception.
The reading today is with the Sibylle des Salons by Grimaud. You can find out more about this lovely 1840s deck in my introduction to it here:
So the cards fell as follows. The card at the centre is “Jouers”: Gamblers or Players. I should point out that this reading, though, feels anything but light-hearted, and appears to be addressing the issues in much the same vein as the reading Expert Thought, Sickness, & "Female" Energies Regarding Commercial Trip In Search Of Treasure earlier this week.
The sense is that these were circumstances with a history or elements that were definitely not to be toyed with. As indeed was the case in 1912.
The Cards
Blonde Woman/Romance; Absence; Delay; Death; Gamblers; Angry/Wicked Woman; Visit; Success; Journey
The Reading
At the centre is a gamble, a game and the people playing it (Gamblers). Above is a sense of Absence, something to be filled, and below, Success, the desire to be anointed in some way. Behind, however, is Death (otherwise known as Fright, perhaps a thrill), and ahead the Angry Woman; rage, fury, someone not to be played with, or indeed tamed. (Note again the connection with my reading on Wednesday, with the three female figures).
There is a flirtatious kind of game-playing that’s gone on here (Blonde Woman/Romance, Gamblers), and it seems as though it is an absence or void of some kind which creates that desire and flirtation with thrills, and even death (Absence, Blonde Woman/Romance, Death). There appears to be a delay of some kind, also, getting behind in the game involved (Delay, Gamblers), which creates a void (Absence), but also fury at it being played as a game from an opposing female figure (Angry/Wicked Woman). Which is making me think of the female Foe in the previous reading.
A recent meeting of “gamblers” (Gamblers, Visit) who were “anointed” in some way (Success), but the meeting overshadowed by the risk of Death. Then we have a Journey that is a game or gamble of some kind (Gamblers, Journey), and there is rage over this from a female figure or force (Angry/Wicked Woman), over this journey of the anointed or ‘winners’ in life (Success, Journey).
At the centre, is a female figure’s rage at dicing with death (Death, Gamblers, Angry Woman), and above it the Gamble itself may be about a belated (middle aged?) attempt to fill an absence and a sense of flirtation, an absence of frisson (Blonde Woman/Romance; Absence; Delay). Underneath is the gathering together around those “successful” enough to make the journey (Visit, Success, Journey).
In the past, we see flirtations and gatherings around thrills and death (Romance/Blonde Woman; Death, Fright; Visit), in other words, meetings of thrill-seekers. Then the “players” think of what is missing, and the need to achieve (Absence, Gamblers, Success). Ahead, however, a delayed rage from a female figure (Delay, Angry Woman) on a Journey or trip. This was clearly not to be messed with. Particularly upsetting, however, was the loss of a 19-year-old teenager, who, if accounts from family members are to be believed, did not even really want to be on board.
RIP to all lost on the Titan. And may the Titanic herself be left to rest in peace in future.
Something gambled or treated as a game, due to a sense of absence or a later-life need to be filled, and the desire to be anointed in some way. Thrill-seeking, but met with a fury or uncontrollable rage, something not to be played with. A flirtation with thrills and playing with death, and delayed or latent rage from a female figure at it being treated as a game. A recent coming together of gamblers who were ‘anointed’ or successful, but overshadowed by death, and a trip that was also seen as a game, a gamble, and opposed by a female force outraged and vengeful at this journey of those who were successfully chosen.
