Who Am I And What Is The Daily Oracle About?

My name is Lozzy Phillips, I’m a card reader, teacher, publisher & freelance author, with, among many others, a longstanding interest in 19th century fortune telling cards, history, belief and card symbolism.

I run beginner-friendly Lenormand website, Lozzy’s Lenormand, where I help my readers learn the Petit Lenormand oracle card system, giving practical tips, worksheets and providing online courses, and I’m also the author of the book Lozzy’s Complete Guide To Lenormand as well as several other books and online courses.

I don’t only read or use Lenormand cards, however, and I really wanted a place where I could more comfortably share regular readings and insights on a variety of other 19th century oracle systems. My aim was to really start expanding and exploring my own interests in the connections between them instead of just focusing on one single card system as I had with Lenormand.

I also wanted to start building a learning and reference portal on the various different historical decks, including various Sibilla decks and the Kipper cards, but with the prime intention of showing the connections between the decks, and the wider historical oracle card tradition.

What The Daily Oracle Is

The Daily Oracle, intended as a personal newsletter project about 19th century oracle card reading, has evolved as time has gone on (along with some of the quirks of the Substack platform) . My newsletter consists of regular predictive news readings using various classic decks in the Daily Oracle section, plus individual sections on card meanings lists and how-to on different decks, along with . Within the limitations of the Substack platform, I also really wanted to build up individual resource sections and learning portals for each of the decks I use in readings, so readers can access more detailed information on decks that take their interest, along with guidance on layouts and spreads that can be used with any oracle card system.

Meanwhile, as long as you tick all the sections of interest to you when you sign up, paid subscribers will gain additional access to ALL learning and reference pages about these popular 19th/early 20th century oracle decks as they are posted and will continue to have full access for the duration of their subscription. The relevant sections are as follows:

Vera Sibilla/Gypsy Oracle

Sybille des Salons (Parlour Sybil/Sibilla Indovina)

Kipper Cards

Lenormand Cards

Oracle Card Comparisons

Here, I have been building up a full reference portal, including card meanings lists, layouts and tips for these decks, as well as comparisons between the different oracles and their themes and concerns that subscribers can access whenever they wish.

The reason? It struck me that information about the decks, the Sibillas especially, is somewhat lacking in English at the moment, as well as very muddled, scattered and hard to find, so I wanted to create that rare resource; not only somewhere you can look up meanings and layouts, but a place where ultimately ALL the decks can be looked at together to give us a picture of the overarching themes and concerns at the time they were created and see where the similarities and differences lie.
