Weekly Roundup: Rain, Money Woes, Frivolity, Bitching, Mess
Review of week ending 6th November '22
Money and general disgruntlement characterised the week. Plotting, infighting, complaining, negativity.
The only “bright spot” was the absurdity of the UK’s disgraced ex health minister Matt Hancock announcing he’d appear on I’m a Celebrity, to the understandable ire of his actual constituents, who won’t be represented while he’s busy eating kangaroo anus & grubs in the middle of a cost of living crisis. Frivolity indeed.
So how did my predictive news readings stack up? Well, not bad for a week of a incessant moaning (might’ve been the damp squibbing of the general drabness and rain, which has been constant here in the UK across the week), but not quite as spot-on as previous, in my opinion. But then, it depends on the drama going on. Some readings, I think, we’ll still have to wait and see how they play out. Hancock, Musk and general gripes of the the population were my biggest ‘hits’ this week.

The Week: Intrigue, Plots, Puzzles or Trap, Enemies Gathering
An intricate mystery or a mess someone can’t get out of? A book of secrets, star-level gambles, power-plays, money and a whole lot of fakeness, putting a “face” on things.
Someone is thinking about a gathering of enemies, willing to serve after a message from an influential figure brings cheer.
Didn’t manage to identify either the person trapped in the mess (it could be many people, let’s face it), but my instinct was, it’s Harry, and I still feel the same, as the publicity for his forthcoming book hots up.
Meanwhile, in the UK the “gathering of enemies” isn’t exactly clear, but the opposition parties are gearing up for what looks almost certain to be electoral victory at some point when an election is finally called, although less due to any great vision of their own than the government’s failures. Sunak continues to defend bringing Cruella back into the cabinet, while Boris’s fans claim he did indeed get the requisite number of votes, but “decided” not to run at the last minute possibly due to the amount of money he’d lose, so there may be further plottings going on behind the scenes. Meanwhile, strike action by many in public services, now, unusually nurses, is likelier than usual to get public support, but comes at a time where there is a huge budget hole to fill. Money is on everyone’s mind.
Tuesday: Harry, Meghan And His Book: What’s Coming Up With That?
The answer to this question appears to be a focus on Meghan, and her thoughts on the royal family and its personal relationships and flunkies, the Queen and her relationships with her children, Harry and Meghan’s “people” or crowd, and thoughts on their dating relationship.
Not a great deal to say on this really. We won’t know til we know.
Wednesday: News Of A Frivolous Imprisonment
There is news of a lighthearted or frivolous “imprisonment”.
This, as I have said, was pretty spot on, as papers were full of incredulity for the news that Hancock was going into the I’m A Celeb Jungle, to boost his career, apparently (or attempt to create a new one). Understandably, perhaps, this went down like a lead balloon. He was promptly suspended by the Conservative Party.
Thursday: Negativity Expressed About Wealth Disparity, Labour Conditions & Dishonesty
Negativity abounds about wealth disparity and labour conditions, and may be commented on by a woman or women specifically. The granting of a high position causes grumbling, especially with regard to work and labour, lack of change and what can be expected, and misrepresentation or dishonesty.
Again, pretty accurate, although am not sure who the older woman was. Shadow Chancellor Labour’s Rachel Reeves was indeed speaking out about the cost of living crisis, while strikes are impending in the UK’s public services, especially the NHS. A lot of people saying “Enough is enough”. Meanwhile, calls for a general election are growing…
Thursday: What’s The Goss? The People Chatting About Money & Wealth, If They'll Be Protected, and Financial Loss
The word on the street is that people are mostly chattering and bitching about money. The wealthy, whether or not the government with its new leader will be able to offer them any protection, the massive financial losses incurred both for individual households and the government. Will Rishi be able to pull something out of the bag for them? People are certainly hoping so.
Again, a fairly accurate representation of current times. The cost of living crisis is what MOST people are talking and grumbling about, and with good reason.
Saturday: A Man, A Business Deal, A “Disaster?” Maybe, But Compensations Too
A message of terrible disaster for employees over a deal, a “main man”, and a business. But could the deal bring its consolations?
Yep, the news the last couple of days has been full of ex-Twitter employees and board members’ feelings about the takeover of Twitter, after months of drama, by Elon Musk. He promptly sacked half the employees and the entire board. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the press, largely the liberal press, at the horrors of what he might “allow” on the platform, but we’ll see what happens in the long run. Consolations thus far are mainly for Musk, who says he had to make cuts as the business was losing millions every month. Even ex supremo Jack Dorsey seems to agree, saying “He grew the company too quickly.” We will see how this pans out in the grand scheme of things and what it means for the world of social media as a whole.
So that’s it for the week! How did I do?
And don’t forget to let me know in the comments below if there’s anything in particular you’d like me to cover.
