Wednesday: The Sinking of The Bayesian—What Is An Investigation Likely To Uncover?
Wednesday 21 August 2024
I will take a look at the Democrat National Convention and future upcoming debates in the next few days, as I know some of my US readers are likely to be most interested in that, but for today, I’m still finding myself curious about the Bayesian superyacht sinking and the many freakish weirdnesses around what happened.
I also hadn’t realised that the name “Bayesian” was specifically named after a theorem about probability and chance that a lot of Mike Lynch’s career was based on. Which again is odd. Naturally, the conspiracy theories have begun, mostly as even the most skeptical, grounded person finds the coincidences a bit too much. I personally do believe it is coincidence, given that even the most villainous villain is unlikely to be able to whip up waterspouts and Mediterranean storms at will, but it doesn’t stop it all being uncomfortably weird and unlucky in a fatalistic kind of way. RIP to the one person known to have died so far, the ship’s chef, and likely, sadly, the six others. As I write, divers are trying to access the sunken yacht’s intact cabins. According to CCTV footage, it sank in less than a minute. Very scary.
What I’m interested in is more the future investigation into what the hell happened here. Lots of different spreads to choose from for such a reading, which I want to centre on the Magnifying Glass, one of the additional cards from the Gilded Reverie Lenormand, and the Ship card also. To keep it simple, I’m just using the Inquiry Layout today, which is like a shortened 9-Card spread. You can find out which spreads to use for which purpose here:
Here’s how the cards fell:
The Cards
Mask, Cross, Rider; Ship, Magnifying Glass; Moon, Labyrinth, House
