Wednesday: Spying, A Calculated Risk, A Major Test, And News A Significant Bridge To The Future
Wednesday 15th February 2023
I was curious to see what the cards might say about the current spy balloon situation, so today we’re back with the only deck that had a card that really reflected that directly: the Gilded Reverie Lenormand’s Magnifying Glass, which I used as a keycard, and is another one of Ciro Marchetti’s additional cards (as are the Dice and Bridges, which also appear in this layout).
The Cards
Magnifying Glass: Focus, Examination, Detail, Investigation, A Close Look. Aka Spying!
Dice: Risk, Gambling, Taking A Chance
Clover: Luck, Good Fortune
Key: Answer, Solution, Destiny
Scythe: Danger, Cut, Violence, Attack, Reduction, Split, Separation
Clouds: Darkness, Confusion, Uncertainty, Obfuscation, Clouds, Atmosphere
Bridges: Bridge, Connection, Method Of Getting From A To B, Transition Point, Process
Cross: Burden, Test, Responsibility, Major Pressure, Weight
Letter: News, Documentation
The Reading
Here, I’ve chosen to put the Magnifying Glass at the centre, to represent the spying aspect, the observation or watching, looking closely. From the cards that make the diamond around that, we see a fortunate cutting down (Clover-Scythe) or one that has happened by chance—I’m guessing this is the shooting down. On the other side, we have the Clover and the Clouds, so perhaps being fortunate to spot something in the sky, but both bringing a major headache, responsibility or challenge (Cross) as to what exactly to do next.
Around the Magnifying Glass, we see both the Clouds and the cutting or shooting down (Scythe), and above it, in terms of “what it’s about”, it really looks like the answer (Key) is a case of China (or aliens! lol!) “pushing their luck”, taking a chance, just taking a significant risk or opportunity (Dice-Clover), and seeing what they can get away with. Not the first time someone in power has taken that approach, in a kind of “Yeah? So what are you gonna do about it?” kind of way. Beneath, though, it seems that the news (Letter) forms a bridge in some way, a method (Bridge) to increase pressure (Cross) on the countries involved—or they may react in a draconian way.
The cards appear to suggest that taking the risk of cutting down or of attack (Dice-Scythe) is part of a getting from one situation to another in some way (Bridge). The spy balloon appears to have worked well (Clover-Magnifying Glass) in terms of increasing pressure, becoming a major test, and causing headaches (Cross). Ahead, we see significantly bad news (Key-Clouds), that the skies will continue to be of major importance, or that there will be murkiness with regard to what we hear in the news or documentation (Clouds-Letter).
Diagonally, the cards just suggest that the gamble or risk regarding the spying becomes news (Dice-Magnifying Glass-Letter), but importantly that they seem to create a significant Bridge to something; an act on the way to creating something more, connecting, or escalating.
If you knight the cards, you get that the gamble or risk concerned is connected with darkness and pressure (Dice, Clouds, Cross). The attack or cutting down will be important news (Scythe, Key-Letter), and the Bridges created involves both good fortune and darkness, sowing confusion (Clover, Clouds). In terms of what’s considered fortunate, it’s the news becoming a stepping stone of some kind (Clover, Bridges-Letter), and the pressure, test or drama created, being the key gamble taken (Cross, Dice-Key).
The answer, or most significant thing is the attack, and the cutting down and the pressure it causes, it being a major test or challenge (Key, Scythe, Cross). As for the Clouds and their confusion, it was a risk considered worth taking for what it would create or open up (Clouds, Dice-Bridges). Meanwhile, the news on “both sides” will likely continue to be about the good fortune involved, the luck in shooting them down, or the good fortune of the attack in itself (Letter, Clover, Scythe).
Examination tools for spying have luckily been spotted in the sky and “cut down”, but were also an attack, with the situation creates a major headache and pressure. The key to it is a case of someone pushing their luck and taking their chances. The news in itself creates a bridge or method to increase pressure or strain. The gamble taken both in this attack and in the shooting down appears to be forming or opening up a bridge to future situations, and the operation works well in terms of increasing pressure, creating a test scenario. The skies will continue to be of major importance, and there may be confusion, whether deliberate or no, about the news we hear. Very murky.
