As you’re probably aware, there are tons of artist-designed and themed Lenormand decks available on the market along with the more classic 19th century style designs. And several of these decks do contain cards that are additional to the original 36. So the question for today is “Do you need to use them? Should you?”
Personally, as you’ll have seen, I do. But there are circumstances where I may choose not to.
Which Decks Have Additional Cards?
I’m sure there are many decks that I don’t personally use that have additional cards. But the main decks that do which you’ll see me using on the Daily Oracle currently are the Ciro Marchetti Gilded Reverie Lenormand, the Rana George Lenormand and the Celtic Lenormand. There’s also the Maybe Lenormand deck which has notable similarities with the “extras” from the US Gypsy Witch cards
“Additional Cards” fall into three main types:
Additional people cards
Alternative versions of some of the 36 main cards
Extra unrelated cards
So let’s take a closer look at some of these before answering the question…
