Tuesday: Young & Old Women As Messengers About The Trap Of Fandom By The Mob
Tuesday 18th July 2023
There seems to have been a problem for people getting to see yesterday’s post for the week, so here it is again:
Today’s reading is with the Gypsy Oracle Cards, or Sibilla della Zingara. You can access the card meanings index for these here:
Here are the cards for today. Bit of an intriguing one, imo, which is very female-centred. Is it about women in general at the moment, or a particular group of women?
Centre Cards: Key Issue
Young Woman, Messenger
A young woman who delivers a message
Top Row: Further Detail
Sweetheart, Wedding, Pleasure Seekers
For further detail on this, it appears that there’s some some kind of gleeful, not entirely rational, bond from “the crowd” with a young female ‘sweetheart’ figure. It looks as though she’s being adored or fawned over by groups of people, perhaps a fan club, in a slightly “addicted” kind of way. This is also about group behaviour, what and who people seem to latch onto. Fandom, possibly celebrity.
Bottom Row: Underlying Factors or Outcome
Prison, Scholar, Old Woman
A trap or prison of some kind brings the knowledge and wisdom of an older woman. An older woman’s restrictions bring knowledge. She could be an advisor figure, full of knowledge and experience about “the trap” or trappings involved.
Diagonally, it seems that a young woman or women (“Sweetheart”) are going to be getting a female message or message about womanhood from an older woman or women. Perhaps a warning from woman to woman, at different stages in life?
The “fandom”, the mad adoration, the craziness, this female messenger says, is a trap (Pleasure Seekers, Young Woman/Messenger, Prison).
Vertically, the cards tell us that the Sweetheart is imprisoned or trapped, that there is a bond or agreement, a commitment, for a young woman to be the messenger of learning and wisdom (Wedding, Young Woman/Messenger, Scholar), as the older woman points out the madness, the group behaviour, the drunken mob (Pleasure Seekers)
Today’s reading is a very female-oriented one with three female figures; the Sweetheart, the Young Woman, the Old Woman. A young woman will act as a messenger regarding the ‘bond’ or fandom over a female Sweetheart figure by a not-entirely-rational crowd or mob who have latched on to her, in perhaps a rather addictive sort of way. She may like being adored, being everyone’s sweetheart, but there is a trap involved in this, according to the wisdom of a much older, experienced woman, who may be acting as an advisor. There appears to be a younger woman acting as a messenger from the older woman, perhaps from generation to generation. Possibly two sisters and an older female relative, passing messages between them? The mad crowd behaviour, ‘drunk’ with their bond to her, their fixation, is nothing but a trap, says the young woman who is delivering this message. She is committed to or has promised to act as a messenger here, to deliver what she knows, as the older woman focuses on the madness of the group behaviour, and the mob ‘drunk’ and unruly with it.
