Tuesday: Two Readings For Samhain. What Must Pass, & A Spiritual Message
Tuesday 31st October 2023
So not just one but TWO readings for you today for Samhain (today and tomorrow), or Halloween, the 31st October. One short, one a little more detailed.
The first, open to be read by all, is a Star spread using the French Sibylle des Salons and its Death or Fright card, one of only two Grim Reaper figures that appears as the Death card in the 19th century decks I use on the Daily Oracle. He is obviously most appropriate for today.
Find out more about the Sibylle des Salons AND the Star Spread below.
Here is our first layout:
The Cards
Death/Fright; Quarrel; Absence; Contrariety, Displeasure; Infantilism (R), Sweet Card
Plus the overturned Gamblers card as an undercurrent or overview to the reading.
The Reading
So the reading for today centres around the transformation to undergo; what must die and be let go of right now (Death/Fright)? The time has come. But for what?
What is getting in the way of the transformation we must make in the world? The cards say struggle or Quarrel. Fighting, conflicts or arguments. Battling to the end. That will prevent us, is the sticking point preventing us where we really need to go.
What has to happen before we can move on? The cards here suggest Absence and Contrariety, Displeasure. We will need to stop complaining and griping about things we cannot change. We need to learn to let go of petty, pointless complaints.
Only, then, the Reaper tells us, can the pain and sorrow come to an end (Infantilism/Chagrin, R) and bring us the sweetness and purity we seek (Sweet Card).
This, however, is a Gamble, a game. Can we take the risk? Or are we just players in this game?
We can also see sweet endings, peaceful endings. The absence of battle and fighting. For some, there will be disgruntlement if sorrow ends. For some, the cards are suggesting, it gives them pleasure. It would be perhaps less entertaining, less of a game, if it were to disappear.
What ending, death or transformation must we undergo? What must die and be released or transformed? The time has come, but for what? What’s getting in the way, we’re told is fighting, struggle, and battling to the end. It will prevent us finding the peace we seek. We need to stop complaining and griping about petty things, the things we cannot change, about pointless complaints. Only then can the pain and sorrow come to an end and bring us the sweetness we seek. There is a game afoot, a risk a gamble. Endings can be peaceful, with an absence of battles and fighting. But be aware that for some, there will be annoyance if sorrow ends. Sorrow gives them pleasure. It is a game for them, and life would be far less entertaining for them, it’s suggested, in the absence of sorrow and loss.
Our second reading utilises the lovely Rana George Lenormand deck and the Spirit card, the only card of this type in any of the decks I use on the Daily Oracle. We are also using a classic Tarot spread that can be applied to other decks, and is called the Mystic Sevens layout. Just an experiment, really, to see how it comes out.
Find out about Mystic Sevens and the Lenormand card meanings (including Rana’s extra Spirit card) here!
Here’s the layout.
