This Week: Regrets Over What's Been Lost, Superficial Nostalgia, But It's Really All About The Money
W/c 28th August 2023
Hope you all had lovely weekends. (I’ve not been able to update since Saturday as I’ve been away, so if you’re waiting for your Lenormand post on Lenormand Houses, it’ll be with you this afternoon).
We’re back this week with the simplified alternate version of the Vera Sibilla, the Sibilla della Zingara (or “Gypsy Oracle Cards) and another expanded tableau for the start of the week.
You can find the card meanings and details for this deck here:
The upturned card which can be treated as an overview was as follows.
Now, the Widower suggests a sense of grief, looking back on what has been lost and mourning it, perhaps holding on to it a little bit too much.
The rest of the layout for the week was as follows:
The Cards
Child, Love, Sighs, Foe, Money, Hope, Frivolity, Loyalty, Pleasure Seekers, House, Melancholy Conversation
The Reading
As we’ve already seen, one element to the news this week is likely to be a sense of grieving, mourning, and looking back on something we have lost, perhaps holding onto the past a little too much (Widower).
In the centre of the main grid here, we have what looks like a frivolous or unserious kind of hope, perhaps overoptimism (Hope, Frivolity), or it could be about a general sense of wanting things to lighten up.
The top row suggests we’ll be seeing sense of regret or yearning for someone regarding a romance, a child or sense of innocence and the involvement of a female enemy (Child, Love, Sighs, Foe) Is it her who is doing the regretting and looking back? It’s very possible.
The middle row suggests that there are hopes regarding cash and assets, but a degree of frivolity and unseriousness when it comes to loyalty and allegiances. (Money, Hope, Frivolity, Fidelity) So we could be seeing someone make a rather silly or superficial-seeming alliance, perhaps just for appearances’ sake—and the cash it brings, of course.
Underlying all this is a sense of craziness, perhaps addictive or ‘mob’ behaviour regarding or within a family or institution and negative conversations that appear to be taking place (Pleasure Seekers, House, Melancholy, Conversation).
The vertical columns from left to right suggest a child and perhaps wasting money or spending it in an addictive way (Child, Money, Pleasure Seekers). Love brings hope to a family or institution (Love, Hope, House) but there is a yearning for lightness in the face of negativity (Sighs, Frivolity, Melancholy). Meanwhile the loyalty (or not) of a female foe is discussed (Foe, Fidelity, Conversation).
A child or something new appears to bring hope over melancholy (Child, Hope, Melancholy), although the longing involved may be slightly deranged and have an addictive quality (Sighs, Hope, Pleasure Seekers). It could be that there’s a superficial kind of longing for old loyalties and fidelity that someone is feeling down about (Sighs, Fidelity, Melancholy). Love appears to be mainly viewed in financial or monetary terms (Love, Money) and conversations about this appear now to be entirely superficial (Love, Frivolity, Conversation) and financially-driven in the domestic sense (Money-House) and somewhat lacking in substance from a female enemy who is treating the institution lightly (Foe, Frivolity, House).
Knighting the cards brings the suggestion that a child or something new is just bringing a sense of lightness or, more negatively, superficiality back into the institution (Child, Frivolity, House), but there will be whinges about money (Money, Sighs, Melancholy), and there still appears to be a lack of seriousness and addiction regarding matters of the heart (Pleasure Seekers, Love, Frivolity). There could be a sort of “woe is me” slightly off-kilter attitude (Love, Pleasure Seekers-Melancholy) with someone perhaps getting off on the drama of it all. There’s still hope of talks with a female enemy, it seems (Hope, Foe-Conversation), but there’s longing with regard to the child or children of a family or institution (House, Child-Sighs). Not to mention moaning conversations about money (Sighs, Money, Conversation). There’s frivolity and slight derangement in a child’s behaviour or perhaps just a sense of fun and play (Frivolity, Child-Pleasure-Seekers), but negativity and gloom over a female enemy and romantic love (Melancholy, Love-Foe). She meanwhile appears to have hopes regarding this gloom (Foe, Hope, Melancholy), while there is loyalty and love regarding the institution or family (Faithfulness, Love-House). Finally, what is wished and yearned for is discussed (Conversation, Sighs, Hope).
There’s likely to be a sense of grieving, mourning and looking back on what’s been lost in the news this week, a sense of nostalgia. But it’s unserious, and involves overoptimism, although may just stem from the feeling of wanting things to lighten up a bit. We could be seeing a sense of regret or yearning for someone regarding a romance, a child or sense of innocence and the involvement of a female enemy. There are hopes regarding cash and assets, but a degree of superficiality when it comes to loyalty and allegiances. So we could be seeing someone make a very superficial-seeming alliance, perhaps just for appearances’ sake and the cash it brings. Underlying all this is a sense of craziness, perhaps addictive or ‘mob’ behaviour regarding or within a family or institution and negative conversations that appear to be taking place. There’s a child perhaps wasting money or spending it in an addictive way. Love brings hope to a family or institution but there is a yearning for lightness in the face of negativity. Meanwhile the loyalty (or not) of a female foe is discussed.
A child or something new appears to bring hope over melancholy although the longing involved may be slightly deranged and have an addictive quality. There’s this superficial kind of nostalgia, while love appears to be mainly viewed in financial or monetary terms and conversations about this appear now to be entirely surface-level and unserious, materialistic in the domestic sense and somewhat lacking in substance from a female enemy who is treating the institution lightly.
So we have the child or something new bringing a sense of lightness or, more negatively, superficiality back into the institution but not without some whining about money and there still appears to be a lack of seriousness and addiction regarding matters of the heart. “Woe is me” attitudes abound (with someone perhaps getting off on the drama of it all. There’s still hope of talks with a female enemy, it seems but there’s longing with regard to the child or children of a family or institution. There’s negativity and gloom over a female enemy and romantic love She meanwhile appears to have hopes regarding this gloom while there is loyalty and love regarding the institution or family ). Finally, what is wished and yearned for is discussed
