We’ll start the week with another “overview” reading of what the cards suggest is coming up for December.
This extremely useful layout, called the Six Main Themes, and originating with the Sibylle des Salons (Parlour Sibyl) is a reading of two halves. First the overview, which is done through laying a grid and then counting, and only revealing and reading the counted cards, and then the second part with the remaining 18 cards in the deck, which are read as triplets with their centre cards as “Themes” for the time period you’re looking at.
Find out how to lay and read this spread here:
We’re using the international version of the Sibylle des Salons today, the Sibilla Indovina. Check out the card meanings here:
The first half, pulled for the month ahead, was drawn as follows:
The Cards
Malady, Trip to The Country, Enemy, Dark-Haired Woman, Reconciliation, Male Consultant (R), Pensioner, Country House
The second half, the “Six Themes” for the month, fell as follows
The Cards
Dark Haired Young Man, Infantilism/Tears, Anger (R); Fright, Flattery, Pleasure/Pastime; Widow, Faithfulness & Affection, Love; Sweet Card, Protector, Tenderness; Delay, Victory, Presents; Gamblers, Thought, Some Money (R).
Interpreting The Cards
Overview:
So we see for this month, there’s still a sense of sickness and dysfunction (Malady). An enemy figure, perhaps a hidden one, may be taking a temporary step back at this time (Trip To The Country, Enemy) and there is some sort of Reconciliation forecast for a Dark-Haired Woman. But there is a significant male figure, a worried one, who is his own worst enemy (Male Consultant R). Then we see an older, wealthy man (Pensioner), with more money than love, taking time off elsewhere, removing himself from the fray (Country House).
You can also read the cards in diagonal, so here, you have the unhealthy or dysfunctional hidden enemy (Malady, Enemy) and some kind of Reconcilation with him. Wise? Hmm. Don’t be too trusting, I’d say.
Then you have the escape, or distancing (Trip To the Country) of a Dark Haired Woman with regard to a significant male figure who is his own worst enemy (Male Consultant R) who will be getting away from it all (Country House). The Pensioner, the older man with wealth and assets, stands alone.
Now we turn to the six main themes of what these cards say is coming up this month.
Six Themes For December 2023
1. Sorrow & Tears
(Dark-Haired Young Man; Infantilism; Anger R)
“Infantilism” in this sense is about sorrow, tears, rather than childishness necessarily, and there’s a negative kind of anger or disdain about it now, involving a certain smart young man or men. A sense of angry disdain is apparent over the tears and sorrows of young men.
2. Flattery & Praise, Obsequiousness, Sucking Up
(Fright/ Death) (Flattery); (Pleasure, Diversion)
Praise and sucking up to those who kill, treated as a pleasure or a game
3. Loyalty, Affection
(Widow) (Loyalty, Affection) (Love)
The affection and loyalties of the lonely lead to love
4. Protection
(Sweet Card) (Protector) (Tenderness)
There’s tenderness from someone in a senior role, protective, tender and sending sweet messages. A kindly protector figure, playing “nice” giving all the “right messages”, behaving in a caring way.
5. Victory
(Delay) (Victory) (Presents)
Delayed rewards and spoils of victory. It takes a while before advantages can arrive or start coming to fruition. The idea of waiting, delay and patience being beneficial, but perhaps a victory comes too late to gain the rewards.
6. Thought
(Gamblers) (Thought) (Some Money R)
Theory, ideas. A gamble or risk is taken based on a theoretical position, there is thinking about that, but the risks taken will turn out to be unprofitable, and efforts made in reality bring few gains. Far less value and benefit than had been hoped for with the theory.
Overall, these cards suggest that this December, we’ll be seeing a continuation of dysfunction and things awry, as an enemy figure, perhaps a hidden one, may be taking a temporary step back at this time, and there is some sort of reconciliation forecast for a dark-haired woman. But this all stems from a male figure, a worried one, who is his own worst enemy. We’ll also likely see a senior figure, an older, wealthy man, with more money than love, taking time off elsewhere, who’ll be removing himself from the fray at this time, so perhaps stepping back from any duties. The unhealthiness or dysfunction we see involves the hidden enemy and the reconciliation with that person or persons. Will it turn out to be a wise move? We’ll see.
There’s also an escape, a distancing involving a dark haired woman in connection with a significant male figure who is his own worst enemy, and who will be getting away from it all. The older, senior man with wealth and assets, meanwhile, ends up standing alone.
In terms of “themes” suggested for this month, we have a sense of sorrow and tears, which bring anger and disdain when it involves a smart young man or men. Meanwhile, there’ll be praise and sucking up to those who kill and finish things off, while the whole thing is treated more as a pleasure, a diversion or a game by some. Those who have lost and are grieving are given affection, love and care. And there’s a perhaps surprise degree of tenderness from someone in a senior role, protective, gentle, caring and sending sweet messages. A kindly protector figure, playing “nice” giving all the “right messages”, behaving in a caring way. Victory and rewards, however, will be delayed. It takes a while before advantages can arrive or start coming to fruition. The idea of waiting, delay and patience being beneficial, but perhaps there’s a danger too that victory comes too late to gain the rewards.Thought and thinking is the final theme, regarding theories, beliefs and ideas.. A gamble or risk is taken based on a theoretical position, there is thinking going on about that, but the risks taken will turn out to be unprofitable, and efforts made in reality bring few gains. Far less value and benefit than had been hoped for from the theory or ideological position.
