The Classic "Romany" Spread For A General Reading

Been meaning to do a post on another spread for quite a while now, so I guess today’s as good a time as any!

If you’d like to check out previous post on different spreads, particularly on which spreads you can use for which purpose, take a look at the following:

Which Layout Should I Use?

Now, tableau-style layouts like Grand Tableaus, the Witch’s Tableau, Mystic 7s and mini-tableaus like the 9-card Box spread tend to fit most of our oracle decks like Kipper and Lenormand really well, as they lend themselves to storytelling types of readings. And storytelling types of readings obviously work well with decks that involve lots of people and events like Kipper and Sibillas.

But what of more positional spreads, the kind you see more in Tarot, for example? By that, I mean the kind where a card in a certain position is meant to designate a particular meaning, rather than being more free-style.

So today’s classic spread is another useful one to know about, can be used with any deck… and is largely positional, although it does have slightly storytelling elements as well.

It’s known as the Romany Spread, is not specifically for Kipper, but we’re going to demonstrate how to lay and read it using Kipper cards today.

Here’s how it looks. Read on to find out more about what it’s good for, how to lay and read it, and what all the positions mean.
