Gypsy Oracle/Sibilla della Zingara & Vera Sibilla Card Meanings
Here are the main card meanings, including reversals, and images for the above Sibilla cards.
In all cases, the Gypsy Oracle/Sibilla della Zingara version is on the left, and the Vera Sibilla on the right. Note that the Vera Sibilla contains extra elements, playing card references and also lottery numbers. The original Italian meanings can sometimes add additional nuance to the meaning of the cards.
Thief
Upright: Theft, loss, person stealing from you. Intrusion. If you use directions (and yes, the cards in the decks face in opposite directions, so it will depend), the cards can suggest that whatever card is in front of the way the thief is facing is what will be stolen or lost, and the card facing their “escape route", what will result. Betrayal of trust, or leaving something open to be taken. Someone who takes advantage.
Reversed: Having to deal with the results or aftermath of what’s been lost or the betrayal involved. Unless positive cards surround, it generally remains so.
