Pride & Arrogance
"What's Coming Up?" with the Vera Sibilla Italiana aka Gypsy Oracle cards for w/c 17th October.
At the centre of the reading is “La Superbia” aka Haughtiness and Pride, the peacock showing off the treasures and gifts that have arisen as some sort of consolation (Consolation, Pride, Gifts).
Above, we’ll see the Pleasure-Seekers, drunk on glory, going over the top, in messages (Messenger) from thinkers, academics or writers (Man of Letters). It looks rather unedifying, a kind of mania, perhaps a frenzy in the press or social media, or a flurry of opinion pieces.
The basis of this, it seems is a Celebration of some kind for the young woman of the house (Celebration, House, Young Woman).
Thinkers or writers have gained consolation and have been celebrating it (Man of Letters, Consolation, Celebration), but the suggestion is it goes a little overboard at ‘home’, a little too comfortable in doing so, perhaps (Pleasure-Seekers, Pride, House). Ahead, there is a message or news about gifts connected to a young woman (Messenger, Gifts, Young Woman).
Diagonally, we see the thinkers’ pride and a young woman (Man of Letters, Pride, Young Woman), and news of pride and celebration (Message, Pride, Celebration).
We can also “knight” the cards for additional information.
The thinkers are gifted something at home or in their domain (Man of Letters, Gifts and House). The consolation comes in a message from or about a young woman (Consolation, Messenger-Young Woman). A celebration may get out of hand with regard to gifts and treasures (Celebration, Pleasure Seekers and Gifts). A kind of delirium with regard to the celebration or party for the young woman (Pleasure-Seekers, Celebration-Young Woman). The “home” is that of newsmen, writers, thinkers (House, Man of Letters-Message). The news arrives of a consolation at home (Messenger, Consolation and House). The gifts or treasures come in the form of a celebration for thinkers & writers (Gifts, Man of Letters-Celebration). And the young woman will be over-partying at the gains she has made (Young Woman, Pleasure-Seekers, Consolation).
While “high on celebration” for any gains made, it may be pertinent to remember that pride usually goes before a fall. Something of a frenzy this week, it seems. All seems good… for now at least, but there’s a hint of a warning in there about someone going overboard.
