Revisiting The Four Corners Spread For The Sibilla Indovina or Sibylle des Salons Cards
Another look at a classic spread for this deck, using the actual suit meanings
This is a relatively simple layout that is described in the LWB for the Sibilla Indovina. You can actually use it with any deck that has playing card references (although see my comments below regarding the “Life Area” categories—I’d say it’s best to follow the meanings of the suits in whatever deck you’re using, as they’re not all the same!)
The spread utilises an initial eight cards (although may involve up to four more) and four designated “life areas” which are presumably intended to correspond broadly to the playing card suits—although in this post, I’m disputing the categories used, as they don’t in fact actually correspond to the meanings of the French suits in the Sibylle des Salons AT ALL. I find that the Indovina/Salons deck, more than any other, has has some not-necessarily in keeping with the original adaptions made in “official” documentation about it (especially by manufacturers Grimaud, it has to be said.)
Subscribers can read on to find out more…. including what adaptations I suggest to the categories for this spread even when using the Indovina and Sibylle des Salons, and my comments on those suits & their meanings!
