(Substack glitch meant that this post only went out to some of my readers yesterday, so am resending today).
Since we’ve already been covering both the related Vera Sibilla cards and the Grand Tableau, let’s begin September with a Grand Tableau and a similar type of deck: the Austrio/Hungarian “Bohemian” or “Zigeuner” cards, sometimes known as Gypsy cards.
As you’ll see, there are lots of similarities between this deck and La Vera Sibilla, which was derived from it. But there are fewer Bohemian cards to play with (usually 32-36) than you would find in a 52-Card Sibilla deck.
Find out more about how it compares with La Vera Sibilla or Gypsy Oracle cards here:
Anyway, here’s the spread for September month ahead!
No characters or questions “set” , just seeing where it might take us.
Now let’s take a closer look.
The Sweetheart
Counting (in 9s) …. but backwards!
Sweetheart, Lover, Widower, Baby/Child, Gift, Wedding, Anger, Journey, Desire, Sweetheart
So this tells us that this month we’re likely to see a romantic couple, a woman and a man and an older man mourning his child, some kind of deal given which brings anger at the progress of desire for the female partner/Sweetheart figure.
Around this female protagonist, we have some Money, some Hope and an advisory Priest figure, perhaps a spiritual or moral advisor.
Her opposite number is Misfortune - so she brings disaster. Around this we can see a domestic sphere (House) that it is visited upon and a love relationship is involved (Love).
The cards the Sweetheart is knighting are the male Enemy card, so there’s a male enemy figure or oppositional force among her influences, but also loyalty (Fidelity).
The disaster (Misfortune) is knighted by a Journey or trip which apparently brings it, along with Anger.
If we look at the verticals, horizontals and the diagonals of the Sweetheart, we get that she is hoping for a message, about which she will grieve( Sweetheart, Hope, Letter, Widow). She has a spiritual or moral advisor (Priest) and there’s also an older man in mourning who sprinkles luck on a situation (Widower, Fortune).
In the horizontal row in which she appears, we can see Money, and a constant sense of Jealousy, somehow envying what others have and she does not. Something is given, some benefit or gift (Gift) which brings luck and good Fortune, and may for a time, make things seem better (Fortune pouring on Malady), but there is something false or untruthful going on here (Falseness) and there’s a surprising reveal of true desires (Surprise, Desire)
The Enemy
Enemy, Jealousy, Merriment, Judge, Malady, Surprise, Misfortune, Widow, Faithfulness, Enemy
Counting backwards in 9s tells us we have an Enemy figure who is jealous of any happiness (Merriment) and makes judgement of any problem or sickness, perhaps claiming it’s karmic in some way. There’s a surprise disaster which creates a mourning woman with loyalty to an enemy figure.
Around the Enemy card, we have constant jealousy over money and gains (Money,Constancy, Jealousy), some kind of spiritual or advisory figure with his knives out for a Child (Priest, Enemy, Child) and a sense of loyalty that steals something from an unhappy or grieving older man (Fidelity, Widower, Thief).
Diagonal to the Enemy we have the Money card, so he is mainly out for financial gain or he is wealthy, and he’s out to steal happiness (Thief, Merriment). He’s also jealous of the loyalty of a grieving older woman (Jealousy, Enemy, Fidelity, Widow) or creates grief for her himself.
He is knighted by a message from a Sweetheart (Sweetheart, Letter) as well as luck and good fortune for a male lover, although that opportunity may get wasted and poured away (Lover, Fortune).
His opposite number is Anger, which appears to be a sickness for him (Malady), causing Losses and a trip (Journey). Legal judgements bring on this anger and a visit (Judge, Anger, Visit) and there’s a deal or agreement involving some money out of love or passion that arises from it (Marriage, Some Money, Love).
But the cards knighting the Anger card show official merriment or amusement (Officer, Merriment) which may induce it, there’s a surprising message (Message, Surprise), as well as angry thoughts (Thought) of subsequent destruction or disaster (Misfortune). Whoever’s anger this it, they are extremely volatile right now.
We can also see from the diagonals and columns that the anger arises from being gifted a ‘loss’ (Gift, Losses, Anger) out of passion or Love. There’s a false sickness promoted which enrages someone who can get advantage out of it or someone has the “disease” of lying, bringing them anger and some material advantage. (Falseness, Malady, Anger, Some Money)
Events I
As with the Vera Sibilla, we can pair opposite cards to get clues about events.
Here, we have a Sweetheart, a main female figure, bringing disaster (Misfortune) out of her passion for wealth, money or gain (Money, Love). There could be a constant drip-drip of smaller amounts of money (Constancy, Some Money), but there’s jealousy of a marriage or arrangement (Jealousy, Marriage), which brings some happiness or merriment (Gift, Merriment). There’s a message of luck and opportunity (Message, Fortune) or a messenger of fortune, but lies bring sorrow (Falseness, Sorrow). There’s a surprise (Unexpected Joy) involving a main male figure (Lover) and the yearnings of a grieving woman (Desire, Widow).
We also have hopefulness for a household or institution (Hope, House), and there’s spiritual advice or wisdom offered on a visit (Priest, Visit). But an enemy figure is angry and feeling vengeful (Enemy, Anger) concerning a decision or judgement about a child (Child, Judgement). There’s an ending brought by officials or the powers that be (Officer, Death), and a loss or theft, where something material is deliberatly stolen (Loss, Thief). An older regretful man is ill (Malady, Widower) and there’s a journey or trip involving some kind of loyalty (Journey, Fidelity). Thoughts are conveyed in a message, likely a written one (Thought, Letter).
Events II
We can double up our pairings to get the following story:
A Sweetheart has hopes involving a household or institution which are dashed or destroyed (Sweetheart, Hope, House, Misfortune). There may be spiritual gains or abundance, or value is being advised upon by someone wise, and there is a visit of someone involving passion, care and love (Money, Priest; Visit, Love). There is, however, a consistent enemy figure in the picture who is angry about what might be regular payments or a smaller amount of money (Constancy, Enemy, AngerSome Money). There’s serious jealousy about a child that concerns judgement and the legality of a marriage or contract or deal (Jealousy, Child; Judge, Marriage) or someone who was presiding over it.
Some advantage is gifted to an official figure or law enforcer (Gift, Officer), so perhaps a bribe, which brings an end to happiness or merriment (Death, Merriment), and there’s a message of loss through stupid risks (Losses) where good fortune will be stolen away (Thief, Fortune). The sickness or malady of lies causes an older, grieving man, great sadness (Falseness, Malady;Widower, Sorrow), but there’s a surprise journey (Unexpected Joy, Journey) supposedly involving loyalty or not from a younger man b, where there are thoughts of desire for a message to a grieving woman (Desire, Thought;Letter, Widow).
Events III
Here, we just read the columns down, left to right.
A key woman has hopes of getting a message or news, but is likely to be disappointed
Money or value is advised by an expert, possibly a spiritual one, regarding the loyalty of a lover or would be lover.
An enemy figure is constantly causing grief or regret and sorrow to an older man.
There’s jealousy over a child or children that brings theft and the throwing away of luck and opportunities.
A gift or benefit bestowed upon an official figure ends the merriment or happiness.
There’s a message of losses in a legal agreement or legislation being agreed.
An problem of falsehoods and constant lies brings anger and some gains.
There’s a surprise trip which involves the visit of a lover or love affair, so could be a brief fling.
There are desirous or passionate thoughts involving a family, household or institution which bring disaster.
So there we have it!
