Friday: Unsurprising Tory Disaster in UK Local Elections - What Do The Cards Say On The State of The Party?
Friday 3rd May 2034
A fairly quick one today, just in the aftermath of the (entirely predictable) results of the UK local elections yesterday, which are often seen as a good predictor of what will happen in the general election here later in the year.
Unsurprisingly to most of us here, the Tories got walloped, with a disgruntled electorate and Labour still well ahead and gaining ground all the time (despite the lack of enthusiasm by many for Labour leader Keir Starmer and his inside-party conflicts which are almost as bad as Rishi Sunak’s) and the Reform party taking a chunk of the more right wing Tory votes. It’s not, as I say, surprising news, but reiterates that a change of government in a massive swing to Labour is almost certainly on the way later in the year.
You can see my previous look at Sunak (Tory) versus Starmer (Labour) in the Partnership reading I did on them a while back here:
Anyway, we’re focusing today on the state of the Tory party & what they may be intending to do with things the way they are right now. I’m using the 2022 French Grimaud version of the Sibylle des Salons to look at this, using their suggested “problem-solving” spread which they call “Embrouilles Au Salon” aka “Troubles at the Salon”.
This is a simple positional spread, with each position showing a different aspect.
I’ve centred it around the City House (Maison de Ville) card, reversed, which essentially suggests “trouble and instability at home” or in this case, within a party.
The cards for today fell as follows:
