Friday: Agreement Between Angry Woman & Senior Male, Appears To Be A Win, But Actually A Trap
Friday 7th July 2023
For the final reading of this week, we’re turning to the 19th Century French Sibylle des Salons (aka the Parlour Sibyl, otherwise known as the Sibilla Indovina).
You can access detailed meanings of all 52 cards in this deck (including reversals) via the Card Meaning index below:
The cards for today fell as follows. The cards used are from the 2022 Grimaud version of the deck, and the Wedding card fell at the centre.
The Cards
Wedding, Some Money, Victory, Contrariety/Displeasure, Angry Woman, Protector, Sweet Card, Trap, Letter
The Reading
At the heart of the reading is a deal, agreement, contract or marriage (Wedding), and it represents what looks like a Victory in some way for those involved, although it seems that it involves restrictions or may actually be a Trap in some way. An angry, raging or “wicked” woman is a recent feature of the situation (Angry Woman), and it appears that she is being appeased in some way by a Protector figure, who may well be acting as if he is the “reasonable party” in the situation. We can see also that the situation involves a little money which causes disgruntlement in some way (Some Money, Contrariety/Displeasure), as well as some kind of sweetening effect of a letter or message (Sweet Card, Letter).
So it appears that there is a “victory” via a small payment or benefit to a woman who is seen as raging or irrational (Victory, Some Money, Angry Woman), and it appears this arrangement is acting as a kind of sweetener that is actually a trap (Wedding, Sweet Card; Angry Woman, Sweet Card, Trap). There’ll be disgruntlement and complaints about it (Contrariety Displeasure), perhaps to the Protector figure, a senior male who offers the deal perhaps in appeasement of some kind. It is, however a trap of kind, perhaps a very restricted written agreement or contract (Wedding, Letter; Protector, Letter, Trap).
This arrangement is happening between the Angry Woman figure and a senior male Protector, and it signifies a Victory and a small payment that will be much griped about. Underlying it, however, is a document that’s intended as a sweetener, but is actually a trap (Sweet Card, Trap, Letter), so someone may be walking straight into it. The money appears to have been offered to the Angry Woman figure as a sweetener. Now this great victory has been hailed, and someone appears to have won on the surface, but they haven’t, they’ve been cornered instead. That won’t stop others grumbling about the news to the senior male Protector figure.
Diagonally, the cards show the money being offered as part of a contract (Some Money, Wedding, Letter), and complaints that this is being offered at all, that it’s ‘too kind’ (Contrariety Displeasure, Wedding, Sweet Card).
A deal or agreement involving a smallish payout occurs between an “angry woman”, someone seen as being irrational, and a senior male “protector” figure, and is hailed as a great victory, although it is actually a trap, a sweetener of some kind by someone pretending to be benevolent. That there is a payout at all creates disgruntlement and outrage, however. Whatever it involves, it is likely to prove extremely restrictive to whoever has signed, which appears in itself to be the plan.
