Four Corners General Layout: Sibylle des Salons/Sibilla Indovina
A quick general life areas reading where there is no specific question. Includes example readings.
This is a relatively simple layout that is described in the LWB for the Sibilla Indovina. You can actually use it with any deck that has playing card references (although see my comment below regarding the “Life Area” categories—I’d say it’s best to follow the meanings of the suits in whatever deck you’re using, as they’re not all the same!)
The spread utilises an initial eight cards (although may involve up to four more) and four designated “life areas” which are presumably intended to correspond broadly to the playing card suits—although they seem to correspond more to Italian suits than the French ones of the cards.
As initially described in the guide, the first area is Money & Business and links to Diamonds, the second, Health & Chance Encounters, which links to Spades, the third, Work and Profession, linking to Clubs, and the last will be Love and Relationships (Hearts).
(Just an aside, I’m not sure I’m entirely enamoured of these categories for the suits in the ‘official’ version of this spread, especially when you look at the cards in those suits in the French deck, but never mind. You can adapt slightly as necessary. Personally, I feel that “Money and Business” and “Work and Profession” are rather too close to one another to be particularly useful, especially for those of us who are self-employed. Nonetheless, that is what the Indovina instructions say).
In any case, this is NOT a spread for specific questions but more of a quick general life reading or overview spread, one that looks at each area upcoming.
Shuffling And Laying The Spread
Shuffle your 52 cards in your usual preferred way, until you’re ready to lay the cards.
Now you’re going to lay a square of four cards anticlockwise as follows:
