Sibylle des Salons/Parlour Sibyl/Sibilla Indovina Card Meanings
Here are the main card meanings, including reversals, and images for the above Sibylle des Salons cards. On the left is the Lo Scarabeo international Sibilla Indovina version, in the middle, the 1979 reproduction of that card in the JM Simon “Grimaud Parlour Sibyl”, on the right, the current French Grimaud version.
The numberings on the Lo Scarabeo version correspond with the alphabetical listing of the cards in French; the others are grouped in order to according to their suits and then numbered.
Any slight variations between decks are noted, and there are a few! Who is “correct?” Well… I actually think that the Lo Scarabeo took its designs & names from the “original” original. You can see some differences in the 1979 copy of the “Grimaud Parlour Sibylle/Sibylle des Salons” by JM Simon , and now the modern Grimaud is slightly different again.
Absence (Absence)
Upright: Someone or something is missing or being missed, their absence noted and felt. Distance between loved ones. Going it alone, time slowing, inner emptiness or void, numbness, loneliness, being ignored. What is missing. Feeling distant from others. Emotional pain, disappointment.
Reversed: Some readers view this card as a worse impediment or situation of apathy. A loss of feeling. Others more recently as a sign that this situation is ending; the end of difficult times or distancing, an unblocking, that the bad times are nearly over.

Notes: Note that this is less about what has been lost than the feeling or experience of that loss.
